The Monaro is one of the most spectacular landscapes in Australia. Much of its beauty lies in its rolling hills and the uninterrupted views over its grasslands. The three hills that make up The Brothers are the most visually significant of the Monaro’s hills, and are viewable from all around the Monaro.
Someva Renewables, a developer, is proposing to build 25 new generation wind turbines alongside the Brothers.
These wind turbines are significantly larger than any wind turbines people would have seen before. They are 266 metres high from base to tip; for comparison, the tallest building in Sydney, One Barangaroo, is 271 metres high.
At the risk of labouring the point, should this project proceed there will be 25 structures as tall as the tallest building in Sydney towering over the most important landmarks on the Monaro. Even the most ardent supporters of the project cannot deny that this development will fundamentally change the character of our landscape forever.
Someva does not care about evaluating the pros and cons of the development; they are looking to make a quick buck out of our landscape.
Sign the petition to say you are not OK with sacrificing our landscape for developer greed.
