UPDATED, Tuesday, 8.10am: A truck transporting an 82-metre wind turbine blade has gone off-road halfway along the Dunkeld-Cavendish Road near Karabeal.
Hamilton police Sergeant Jimmy Beaumont said the accident was reported to police at 5.50am as a significant traffic hazard.
“It’s part of a wind turbine,” he said.
“An employee of the transport company contacted us to alert people the road is closed.
“The truck carrying the wind turbine blade has gone off the road.
“It’s an 82-metre long blade. The transport company is arranging its own crane to come and help get the trailer back on the road.”
Sergeant Beaumont said VicRoads officials had also been called in to take over traffic management and as yet no detours had been put in place. More to come.
